The successful candidate will report to the HoD: NW Operations and will be responsible for, inter alia, the following:
Key Responsibilities: Manage and implement procedures and standards for all facilities in the network including Cable Landing Stations, POP's and other facilities related to the CORE network infrastructure.
- Responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of Electric & Mechanic related equipment in the Seacom facilities (Cable Landing Station, Metro and CORE PoP locations), including equipment such as Power/Battery plants, Power loading, Inverter and rectifier systems, Generators and backup systems, Fibre/electrical raceway, electrical grounding, Overhead and sub floor works, Optical and electrical distribution frames, Transmission and electrical cabling runs and Cooling.
- Additionally take responsibility where and when required for Fire Suppression Systems, building management system, fibre and copper networks within the facilities and outside plant.
- Work closely with Seacom Engineering and Operations team to ensure consistent network deployment & performance. Develop processes to ensure effective network implementation from planning/design stage through to operational status from a Facility perspective.
- Project management of facilities related requirements end to end.
- Develop and document standards for the facilities including commissioning and acceptance test scripts.
- Provide and execute an effective means of handover to site manager/NOC
- Oversee installations of Seacom assets by 3rd party vendors/contractors ensuring company standards are met.
- Validate test results and test plans ensuring correct execution of all agreed test scripts prior to acceptance.
- Validate as built data and provide amendments to engineering and operations where required.
- Provide procedures and technical support to field teams to ensure Seacom field operations become more effective in assisting in installation and testing of related equipment.
- Assist in evaluating business plans and project costs ensuring Seacom assets and resources are best utilized.
- Set up proper documentation systems in order to track as builds etc..
- Maintain appropriate documentations & reporting.
Carry out all other reasonable and lawful instructions and generally doing all such things which, although not specifically referred to herein, are necessary and/or required for the due, proper, and efficient rendering of the services for the purposes contemplated by this role.
EDUCATION:
- E&M Degree
- Diploma in or equivalent In Project Management & Finance
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Proficiency with Auto Cad &Visio to produce and amend Engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of Power systems, AC/DC loading and maintenance procedures, overhead iron works, ladder racks and electrical grounding design.
- Experience in Layout and Design (COLD) for telecommunications facilities
- Working level understanding and knowledge of electrical codes, wiring concepts and fibre optics termination and safe working practices.
- Ability to oversee and manage contractors working on Seacom sites, prepare SOW/MOP and PO documentation, validation of work standards, processes and procedures.
- Team player with good communication and Project Management skills.

- Technically capable in regard to the applicable technologies.
- Site supervision where applicable to a certain extent.
- Reporting for technical + financial related governance.
