JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will report to the Principal Product Lead, and will be responsible for, inter alia, the following

Manage and co-ordinate all Strategic Financial goals, objectives, and operations.

  • Keep record and update status of all Strategic Financial Action Plans agreed for implementation in line with Annual Strategic Financial Goals and Objectives set for the year.  Report on status at least quarterly to Exco.

Perform financial analysis to assist in profitability and other key financial measures.  Act as partner to the Business.

  • Analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual performance to plan, reporting major deviations and possible corrective action.
  • Regularly review results with Departmental Heads and advise on corrective action on deviations by working as advisor to the Heads.

Contribute through the focus on financial management to the development and implementation of the company’s long-term plan for financial performance and growth.

  • Review and contribute input to the 5-year plan and impact to the Group.
  • Give inputs to the Strategic planning of the Group and analyse impact of strategic initiatives to the growth in revenue, costs, profit, cashflow and Balance Sheet.

Responsible for all the operational annual accounting functions, including statutory external auditing (co-ordination), internal audit reviews, financial analysis, financial reporting, treasury, regulatory reporting, safeguarding the assets of the company, company taxation, quarterly Board reporting, and management and cost accounting.

  • Plan annual audit cycle with external auditors to ensure timeous reporting to the Audit Committee and the Board for approval of Group Annual Financials at AGM, including Subsidiary companies.
  • Plan annual internal audit cycle/plan and implement control weaknesses and monitoring on status of reported weaknesses.
  • Do financial analysis and ensure monthly, quarterly and annual reporting compared to budget and forecast reporting of deviation and corrective actions.
  • Ensure adequate funds for the operations of the Business by managing cashflows and loan funding in order to meet the growth of the company.
  • Manage the Taxation, and other regulatory reporting.

Responsible for Debtors and Credit Management in the Group.

  • Obtain credit reports on new and existing Clients on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and report on the credit management in the Group and assist with the collection of delinquent Debtors, and hand over to legal for further action.
  • Assist with lowering of Debtors’ days.

Oversee and direct annual budgeting process, and quarterly forecasting.  Plan ongoing activities to ensure adherence to budgeted operational objectives.

  • Plan and oversee the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting by working closely with all Departments and Subsidiaries in the Group to ensure timeous completion for approval by the Board.

Ensure that financial controls are implemented to ensure that all regulatory, fiduciary and statutory requirements are met, and in compliance with GAAP and IFRS.

  • Ensure that financial controls are audited and reported on and that the Annual Financials for the Group are in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Practice and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Ensure that New Accounting and updates are implemented timeously to ensure compliance.

Ensure all processes and procedures in the finance department are documented and, regularly reviewed and updated

  • Work with the finance staff to document processes and procedures and regularly review for improvements and control weaknesses.

Responsible for the Financial Operations implementation, and adequacy of financial systems whilst determining clear lines of responsibility and accountability of Staff.

  • Review the overall effectiveness of the finance function together with the Finance Team highlighting weakness in the Accounting System and staff with a view for upgrading or improving skills in the department.

Involvement in pricing decisions and review of business cases.

  • Work with the Sales and Marketing department to monitor and adjust pricing due to market forces and price degradation and review accuracy of business cases prepared by the Sales Team prior to CFO approval.

Responsible for Group short term insurance portfolio and its mitigation of risk.

  • Review adequacy of Insurance portfolio at least annually and get comparative quotes by working with procurement to lower costs of insurance cover for the Group.
  • Carry out any other lawful and reasonable instructions.

Generally do all such things which, although not specifically referred to herein, are necessary and/or required for the due, proper and efficient rendering of the services for the purposes contemplated by this role

EDUCATION:

  • A Qualified Chartered Accountant
  • Member of a reputable Chartered Accountant body.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar company. Preferably with Telecoms/IT

​REQUIRED KEY COMPETENCIES/ATTRIBUTES:

  • Technical Competencies

- IFRS Technical knowledge and application plus ability to prepare Group Annual Financials, and individual subsidiary Financials acceptable to the Auditors.

- Accounting knowledge and application.

- Ability to review and interpret financial results, provide reasons for deviation from plan and corrective action plans to line managers.

- Knowledge and application of Income Tax requirements (Vat, Employee tax, other statutory levies).

- Managing Internal and External Audit processes plus the ability to monitor and Implement Internal controls weaknesses reported by auditors.

- Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation of Risk Management Systems plus mitigation through an appropriate Insurance Portfolio

  • Accountable for results and working to deadlines.
  • Self-starter and ability to work alone through Teamwork and Collaboration in a Group Structure.
  • Influencing and Energizing Others
  • Good Communications, presentation and writing skills. Command of the English Language will be required
  • Problem solving skills and development Focus with the ability to train other staff in the Group.
