SEACOM And Accelerit Partner To Deliver “Pay As You Go” Connectivity Product In Bloemfontein

Connectivity specialist SEACOM is partnering with IT solutions provider Accelerit Technologies to bring a first-of-its-kind, flexible bandwidth product to the market. While shattering traditional industry models, the product is also significant because of its launch in Bloemfontein. This move expands the services of both SEACOM and Accelerit to the country’s sixth largest city for the first time.

Developed in response to market needs, the new prepaid connectivity solution is sold by Accelerit and powered by SEACOM. Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and mini ISPs in Bloemfontein will now be able to access IP Transit at competitive rates and on flexible contract terms.

Empowered with expanded choice in best-in-class connectivity, product flexibility and cost-effective bandwidth rates, mini ISPs in the area can pass the benefits on to their customers. For themselves, the mini ISPs are likely to see an advantage also in using the solution as a failover that can immediately be activated should their primary link go down.

SEACOM and Accelerit’s expansion to Bloemfontein is made possible by SEACOM’s recent acquisition of FibreCo Telecommunications, which has a far-reaching dark fibre network within South Africa. SEACOM is lighting up FibreCo’s terrestrial routes and will be using FibreCo’s Bloemfontein aggregation node to deliver bandwidth to the city. The success of the new SEACOM-Accelerit offer in Bloemfontein will determine if there are future roll-outs to other areas beyond the biggest metros.

The partnership between SEACOM and Accelerit is a mutually beneficial one. Mandla Ngcobo, MD at Accelerit, comments, “When we were looking at launching this product, we explored different partnerships. Dealing directly with SEACOM, the reliability of their service enabled us to focus on our business of selling solutions instead of continually combatting technical issues.”

Jason Lloyd, Channel Team Lead at SEACOM, adds, “Accelerit really did their homework on the Bloemfontein target market. We had already been impressed with the pay-as-you-go bandwidth product they developed for end users in Johannesburg. For anything prepaid to succeed, service levels need to be top-notch, which is something both SEACOM and Accelerit share as a common value.”
